About a week ago we had a very odd experience. Ripley’s Orlando Auditorium to be exact! We were offered a set of complementary tickets in exchange for an honest review so I figured we would give it a shot. I’m sure you have probably heard the name Ripley before. Robert Ripley was actually a pioneer in the industry of travel blogging. Ok, so he wasn’t really a blogger as we know it, but we share very similar talents, bringing the odd and exciting to the masses! Instead of a website, Robert Ripley actually traveled the world and shared his experiences and findings via cartoons, newspaper, and later even radio and television. In a time when we weren’t as connected as we are now, he brought the far reaches of the world to the masses! Ripley would pride himself on finding unique, strange, and odd things from around the globe!
The world has changed quite a bit over the years, and it seems that oddities can be found everywhere from Facebook to the web, but Ripley’s Orlando seems to have them all in one place, under one roof! When Ripley traveled around the world, he brought back more than just stories, he brought back pictures and lots of artifacts as well. Ripley’s Orlando and specifically the Believe It Or Not! franchise has multiple locations and we are lucky enough to have one of them right here in Orlando.
Ripley’s Orlando is odd right for the bat! With a back story that the building foundation was swallowed by a sinkhole, this staple Orlando attraction stands out on I-Drive. Don’t worry it’s just a back story, it’s completely safe. Inside, you’ll find hundreds of strange and odd exhibits that only Ripley’s can bring to life. Some are replicas, other are the real deal. You won’t find a museum curator telling you to “Shhhhhh!” anywhere in this odd museum, but instead you can on a self paced journey around the world. Depending on your own style, the time to go through the entire odditorium can vary, but expect it to take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Continue reading
