If you’re an avid reader, you already know that my family and I took a recent trip to Walt Disney World! While we were in the planning stages of the trip, I was worried that the weather wouldn’t hold up for an entire week. It’s Florida after all. I was concerned about how we would occupy the little ones if we were stuck in a hotel room for a day or two, so we planned ahead and brought along our media streamer! I discovered a method that would allow me to use our Apple TV at hotels! The same method allows you to use an Amazon Fire TV at hotels, and even Chromecast as well! Pretty much any media streaming device will work like a charm with a travel router!
There was a major hurdle that I was aware of that I needed to figure out before I could use my Apple TV at hotels. Most hotels have wi-fi, some have a wired connection that you plug into a desk. That’s perfect for a business traveller, but not so good for a media streamer. Regardless of the connections, there is usually a “walled gateway” that you either need to accept terms and conditions, or plug-in credit card information. This is bad news if you’re trying to use an Apple TV at hotels. Generally a media streamer doesn’t have a web browser for you to accept terms and conditions or plug-in credit card information.
