Lauderdale Live Music Festival Review

Lauderdale Live Music Festival

Lauderdale Live Music FestivalA few weeks ago, Frugal Florida Fun had the opportunity to visit the Lauderdale Live Music Festival! Being a three-day event right in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale, this music festival featured some great talent in one of the very best musical venues we have seen in quite a while! We’re curious to see if this will become an annual event or just a one time thing.

Located in Huizenga park, we couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque place to hang out for a few days and listen to some great music! As promised, there were food trucks, and places to get a few adult beverages! As far as pricing went, the food trucks were about what you would expect at an event. Our reviewers were prepared to drop at least $20 a person per meal, but it would up being a little less. They snacked all day, but not exclusively at the Lauderdale Live Music Festival. More on that in just a bit.

Stephen Foster Festival of Lights

Stephen Foster Festival of LightsAfter almost a month of attending Christmas events, festivals, and other holiday themed location, we finally have stumbled upon arguably the most frugal and possibly the most memorable Christmas event to date! If you have followed Frugal Florida Fun, for a while then you know that being frugal doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on any of the fun and excitement! We discovered the Stephen Foster Festival of Lights last year and didn’t get a chance to check it out. This year we were sure to add it to our family calendar. We waited over a year to check it out, and we weren’t disappointed!

Just to give a bit of an idea of how badly we wanted to check out the Stephen Foster Festival of Lights, we drove over 3 hours and used an entire take of gas round trip! The transportation was the most expensive part of the evening, and of course will vary based on where you live. We also broke a few of our cardinal travelling rules, and didn’t pack a lunch or dinner, so we stopped twice to eat. It was nice though because we were able to explore a few little towns along the way.

Because we live so far away, we allotted ample time for travel and actually arrived very early. I’m glad we did because we also got a chance to checkout the rest of Stephen Foster State Park. When we arrived the gentleman at the gate was very helpful and was amazed we had travelled so far for the event. Admission was $3.00 per person which deviates from the parks regular admission charge of $5 per car load. We knew in advance to bring some cash with us, so it wasn’t such a big deal. The park almost seemed deserted, but based on the recommendation of the attendant, we started at the Stephen Foster Museum and then explored the rest of the complex. Continue reading →

Festival of Bacon – Orlando

Posted on August 13, 2013 by Richard Paczkowski Posted in $$ Moderately Priced, Annual Events, Browse By City, Browse By County, Browse By Price, Date Ideas, Dining, Music, Orange, Orlando, Pet Friendly .
Festival of Bacon

festival of baconI love the immediately identifiable smell of bacon. The sizzle of this prime cut of deliciousness and the crunch of the hands down best treat on the planet is remarkable! Now I’m hungry. I’ll be right back…… Ok, now that I’m back after gorging myself on bacon and eggs minus the eggs, I have an interesting festival to let everyone know about. While it’s not actually frugal, I do have a way for you to save a few bucks so be sure to keep reading on. The Festival of Bacon has promised to be the event of the year hosted right in down town Orlando! That’s right, I hardly believe it myself, but I’m actually writing about a festival that dedicated entirely to this crispy goodness.

On October 5th, if you live anywhere near down town Orlando, you’ll undoubtedly be driven to insanity by the glorious odors of this crispy treat. Hosted at the Orlando Festival Park, the Festival of Bacon has promised to offer over 30,000 samples of bacon from the hours of 11am to 7pm. That’s probably 29,900 more samples than I could possibly stomach, but at least I’ll be going out in all my glory! Continue reading →
