Kennedy Space Center: Literally A Blast From My Past!

Posted on March 20, 2017 by Richard Paczkowski Posted in $$ Moderately Priced, Brevard, Browse By County, Browse By Park Type, Browse By Price, Family, Other, Privately Maintained, Technology, Theme Park .
Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex

Kennedy Space Center Visitors ComplexLet me take a moment to paint a picture for you. Long before I became a resident and an honorary Floridian, my family would take vacations to Florida. One of my earliest memories as a boy was packing into the truck and heading to the Kennedy Space Center! There I was, a young boy with space on his mind and a love of everything NASA related! In fact my parents still have a few of the NASA Magnets on their fridge from our visit.

Now after almost 30 years since my first visit, I reached out to the Kennedy Space Center to see if we could do a review. After all, the Kennedy Space Center put Central Florida on the map long before Disney did, and it’s one of the original Florida attractions. What I discovered was that over the past 30 years the Kennedy Space Center wasn’t at all what I remembered as a child, it was so much more! Sometimes when you revisit something from your childhood, it can often fall flat and you may have been better off with your memories. This was not the case with the KSC! I was so excited to share this new experience with my oldest little guy.

One quick point I want to make before I get into the specifics of the Kennedy Space Center is the that Visitor’s Complex is not tax funded. That’s right, we don’t actually pay for it as citizens, the visitors do. This has resulted in what I can only relay as top quality entertainment. After all, KSC is competing with the Mouse, Universal Studios and other top notch theme parks so they have to be good. While I was expecting more of a tour and a museum visit, what we actually experienced was more of an immersive, theatrical, and education experience like no other! Continue reading →

Florida State League Baseball Free Ticket Giveaway

Posted on May 21, 2016 by Richard Paczkowski Posted in $ Inexpensive, Browse By Park Type, Browse By Price, Family, Give Aways, Privately Maintained, Statewide .
FLStateLeague

12 Weeks of Summer Giveaways
florida state leagueThere are very few activities that just scream SUMMERTIME, and baseball is one of them! I have fond memories of going to Daytona Cubs games (now the Tortugas) and relaxing in the summer evening eating hotdogs, and spitting sunflower seeds everywhere. Ok to the sunflower seed thing is a bit gross as an adult now, but as a kid it was awesome!

We have partnered with the Florida State League so you and your family can experience the joy that is baseball! To call this the minor leagues is a bit of an injustice. Each baseball game is filled with fun, excitement, and of course baseball! The Florida State League consists of multiple ball clubs throughout the state that are affiliated with major league ball clubs.

The beauty of the Florida State League is that you can be watching baseball’s next big star! Spanning across the state, there is almost always a ball club within a short driving distance. Courtesy of the Florida State League we are giving away a family 4 pack of general admission tickets to one home game of the team of your choice! That’s right, you can pick from any of the teams listed below. The winner will need to let us know which team you would like to visit and provide three potential dates that would work with your schedule. We will do our best to work with the FSL to get your first pick!

You can view all the teams and schedules at their website: fslbaseball.com Continue reading →

Florifa start park free admission

12 Weeks of Summer Giveaways

12_Weeks_FL_State_Parks_Logo

It’s no big secret that we LOVE Florida State Parks! Many of our trips have taken us off the beaten path and straight into some awesome family memories. Our friends at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency are helping us celebrate our 12 Weeks of Summer campaign by helping 12 families experience the awesomeness that is the Florida Park Service!

Every Tuesday from June 7th to August 23rd, we’ll be doing drawings for a FREE day pass to any Florida State park! Generally speaking, these passes are good for a single vehicle, up to 8 people at most parks. There are few exceptions such as Weeki Wachee  Springs and Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs, where the passes will grant admission for two people. Admission to the Skyway Fishing Pier isn’t included in the promotion.

So what is there to do at Florida State Parks? All sorts of stuff! Camping, fishing, hiking, picnics and much more! Throughout the 12 weeks of summer we’ll be making a few recommendations. For starters, if you haven’t already downloaded it, you’ll want to checkout the official Florida State Parks Pocket Ranger App. This free app will give you all the information you need right at your fingertips! If you aren’t near your smart phone, you can checkout their site: http://www.floridastateparks.org/
