I can’t believe I didn’t know about the Edgewater River Festival! This fairly new annual event, is sure to be a staple on the Frugal Florida Fun Calendar of Events! The best part is that there is not admission charge! It’s completely FREE to browse around. Located right on the Indian River, the Edgewater River Festival which spans multiple river front city parks will be fun for the entire family! This year the event includes a business expo, carnival, river water events, and lots of entertainment! I regret that I didn’t go last year, but from the pictures I found it looks like lots of fun.
Right On The River
The actual water events launch from Menard-May Park on riverside. Saturday you can try out a kayak or paddle board absolutely FREE of charge. You can also participate in the FREE Kayak race! Race against the lock and you might be eligible for a number of great prizes. At 2:30 PM they will be hosting the Mayor’s Cup challenge. Apparently the other local towns have been talkin’ trash and the Edgewater City Council has had enough! They called the other local towns out on the carpet to prove their prowess on the water. Sunday, be sure to checkout the 2nd annual tug boat race. Purchase a rubber tug boat, and if you win you could walk away with an awesome cash prize.
A Carnival On The Water
Did I mention carnival rides? The Edgewater River Festival is filled with them! At Kennedy Park in Edgewater, don’t miss the fun and excitement! Promising classic favorites like a Ferris Wheel, and bumper cars, this good ole’ fashioned carnival will please families of all sizes. Spanning the entire three days, Friday night has been deemed Family Night with $15 all you can ride tickets, from 6pm to 10pm. Saturday the carnival is open from 10am to 10pm, and again Sunday from 10am to 8pm.
If your into shopping local, be sure to check out the business expo which spans between the two parks down Riverside Drive. Lots of local vendors will be on hand selling al sorts of stuff and getting their name out there to the public. Last year the booths sold out, so I’m sure it will be packed.
Are you not entertained?
As if all the previous reasons didn’t get you to pack up and check out the Edgewater River Festival, there will also be tons of local and national entertainment to check out. With two stages to check out, everyone from local school performances will be on stage to the award winning Little Texas in Saturday! Friday night will feature Brickyard Road at 7 – 10pm, and Little Texas takes the stage on Saturday at 8pm. Be sure to checkout the Edgewater Expo site for a complete list of events.
