With so many annual events that go on all around Florida, it’s often difficult to determine which ones we’ll return to. However with the 2014 New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival, there was no difficult decision to make. This event has become a staple of our annual calendar lineup!
This year unfortunately our family didn’t get a chance to go to the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival, but the event coordinators were gracious enough to host one of our reviewing families as well as offer tickets for a give away. We would like to thank them for their generosity, and we’re please to report that everyone had a wonderful time! Overall, the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival proved once again to be an outstanding family value!
One of the reasons why we love this event is that it is very family friendly! Adult admission is only $10 and children under 12 are FREE. In addition they choose to honor veterans with FREE admission regardless of age. Parking is also FREE but it can be limited at times. Over the three day span each year, the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival offers entertainment, high flying acrobatic excitement, displays, games, rides, and even lots of delicious food!
While visiting, you’re always more than welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chair to checkout the air shows and entertainment. Unfortunately cooler and outside drinks are not permitted at the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival. So what should you expect when you arrive? Lots of open spaces, as this event take place right on the tarmac of the New Smyrna Beach airport. It’s very important you bring plenty of sunscreen, as there is no shade available with the except of a few tents.
While there, you will find all sorts of things to do and see! While the Balloon Festival of course has balloon rides, you also get to see a great air show no matter what day you attend. You won’t want to miss strolling the tarmac and seeing classic air planes, jets, and lost more. Don’t worry though, if you’re not all that big into aviation, there are still plenty of community vendors, shows, entertainment, and of course rides. While aviation is of course the focus, there are plenty of activities and things to do and see so you’ll still want to plan on attending with the family.
When it comes to value, the admission alone is a great value. For a family of 4, with kids under 12, it will only set you back $20 which isn’t bad at all. Once you get into the event, you’ll face other chargers if you want to go on a balloon, helicopter, or plane ride of course. The food is about on par for food truck events, with entrees averaging about $8 each. When it comes to the carnival, tickets are $1 each, with rides like the ferris wheel requiring $3 tickets. If you’re really concerned about costs, you may want to grab lunch before you enter. My recommendation would be to checkout the local Subway Restaurant and head over to Sugar Mill Ruins or even the beach. Make your trip to the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival and adventure!
With such a great event, you’ wan to keep coming back year after year! Be sure to checkout our calendar and of course their website for details as the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Festival 2015 approaches.
